Bilfinger Berger Project Investments has successfully handed over two of their brand new academies to Clackmannnanshire Council. Students and staff have already moved into one of the schools, Alloa Academy and the other, Alva Academy, will be open to students and teachers after Easter.

The schools facilities include meeting and conference space for business and community groups and flexible workspaces for classes. The modern classrooms are fully serviced with computer points and interactive white boards for both general and specialist teaching.

The schools also boast wireless accessibility as well as the latest equipment in ICT suites and computer rooms. Technology has been incorporated elsewhere, such as the finger print recognition which allows cash-free catering to encourage take-up of school meals.

The range of sports facilities include games halls, gymnasiums, dance studios, fitness suites and PE classrooms for high level coaching sessions as well as extensive outdoors sports pitches and tracks.

Headteacher at Alloa Academy Ralph Barker said, "We are all delighted to be given the opportunity to teach in such a fantastic environment."

In addition, the back drop of the Ochil Hills at Alva and the hilltop position of Lornshill will ensure their greater share of photographic visits. The first of the academies (Alloa) is already in use, and both pupils and teachers are delighted with the new facilities provided for them."
